The class made lists of "Big Questions".
Students wrote a note introducing themselves to another student in the class; other students received these introductions and responded.
The class went over some basic classroom logistics, and read then read and discussed the article linked to in the previous post.

Welcome to Sophomore English!
Hello,
I'm Mr. Zartler, and I'm stoked (or whatever the currently appropriate term is among all ya'all) to be your English teacher this year.
I won't talk too much about this wonderful beast, my puppy mr sparkles, but I think you should definitely see how cute she is.
